Raindrop Plot

This visualization represents a deeper exploration of the MC3 case study data, which investigates how key concepts relate to the different case communities. These concepts where derived from the MC3 coding framework and the visualizations show where and at what strength they appear within the MC3 research. Concept strength refers to the relative frequency of a concept as it appears within both a community’s interview transcripts and case study. This analysis allowed us to explore patterns, similarities and differences among the communities with the goal of understanding the successes and challenges of climate action in each of the communities.

This ‘raindrop plot’ is a visual representation of the analysis, plotted with concepts on the y-axis and community on the x-axis. For each concept, strength is represented through the size of the circular marker, larger circles signifying a higher strength. Concepts are also arranged in the vertical space according to their prevalence.

The community filter located at the top of the graph allows you choose which communities are displayed, allowing you to highlight and compare certain communities. The concept filter also located at the top of the graph allows you to pick and choose which concepts are displayed to easily compare and contrast certain concepts.
