Today's post features Heather Bauer, a senior climate action analyst with the BC government. What makes Bauer unique is not her government position but rather that she has one heck of an incredible voice, which she uses to call attention to climate change. Singing in the style of jazz and blues, Bauer has two songs available on SoundCloud about climate change. 'Backwater Blues' is a tribute to the floods in Calgary ("Backwater Blues told me to pack up my things and go. Cause my house fell down and I can't live there no more."). 'In the Event of an Emergency' is a lament about how action on climate change will require political change: "Because the lies will grow and the tempers enrage, that's what you get when you need social change. Yeah, we need social, social change." With such a powerful voice, Bauer is able to sing a cappella, with no back-up vocals (except her own) or instruments. She is definitely worth a listen!
