In response to the threat of anthropogenic climate change, the provincial government of BC has introduced a number of innovative policies that go far beyond those in other North American jurisdictions, and these have helped spur climate action in local communities across the province. We have captured leading edge innovations and lessons learned at the local level through a series of eleven case studies focused on BC communities - the City of Victoria, Carbon Neutral Kootenays, City of Vancouver, Surrey, Dawson Creek, Eagle Island, Revelstoke, North Vancouver, Campbell River, Prince George and T'Sou-ke. The primary criteria for selecting cases centred on communities demonstrating best practices; however, case selection was also influenced by a variety of secondary criteria. For a more detailed description of the case selection process, review the MC3 case selection criteria.
In addition to our community case studies, we have also explored the provincial context through two case studies on BC adaptation strategies and approaches. These are made available in both English and French.
