What was once just a theoretical mock up floating around the internet forums, is now a reality bieng implemented by SolaRoad, a company based in the Netherlands. They have built a 230ft long bike path in the town of Krommenie, and they are hoping that after three years of practical testing, the technology will prove successful at providing power while being a safe and solid alternative to the wasted space and energy drain that traditional highways require. See photos of the walkway here, and discover more about the technology behind the project here.
